Steps To Become A Pilot

PRE-ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

1. Atleast 17 years old 2. IELTS - 5.5 or above 3. Fluent in English 4. Knowledge of Mathematics and Science 5. Pass the Pre - Entry Assessment 6. EASA Medical (class 1) Certificate

GET THE MEDICAL CERTIFICATE

The student pilot will undergo several routine-based medical examinations. These tests include: blood and urine tests, eye vision and physiological tests. The examinations and evaluations will be conducted by certified aviation Aero-Medical Physicians. You will need to visit the 251 Hellenic Air Force Aeromedical Center (K.A.I.) GR AMC 16001 in order to complete your medical test. The student pilot must book an appointment on Tuesdays or Thursdays, in order to complete the test. The procedure may take up to five (5) hours and the medical certificate is issued on the same day. Certificate issue: If all standards are met, then the student can proceed to the second stage of the assessment. However, if the required standards are not met, then the process may take longer since the doctors with HCAA’s cooperation will need to investigate the medical results more thoroughly. It is possible that an application for a medical certificate can be denied. In that case, you will be allowed to re-apply after a certain period of time (if, for example, the medical condition is curable and improves). Validity Period: A class Medical Certificate is valid for at least one (1) year. At least one month prior to its expiration, the student pilot must revalidate his or her medical certificate to a doctor specialized in aviation medicine.

ASSESSMENT: PREPARATION FOR ASSESSMENT – 2 MONTHS AT INSPIRE TRAINING ACADEMY -

An assessment will take place on the Academy’s Ground School Training Center in Athens, Greece. The assessment is focused on English language knowledge, aptitude skills, general interest, mathematics, physics, and basic psychometrics. The applicant shall start the assessment with an English language evaluation and a basic pre-entry test, followed by an interview with our Admissions representative. Then the applicant shall complete the Compass test which is designed to give applicants considering a career as an airline pilot an early indication of their potential ability to pilot an aircraft.

VISA ISSUING

For non EU passport, a student pilot should initially apply for a Tourist Visa (1 month validity). Admission papers can be provided by GA. This visa will allow a student to undergo GA’s pre-qualification assessment test. GA will decide if a student will continue to the next step which is the Class 1 medical exam (EASA Medical Unit is currently full and may delay medical appointments). After a successful assessment test result, a student thereafter applies for a type D student visa (18 months or so). ENROLLMENT

The student pilot after his/her successful medical test and assessment, can proceed to his/her enrolment in the Academy’s first available class. The Academy has 3 classes per year, every January, May and September. Average course duration is 18 - 20 months, however the total duration of the course (theory and flights) may vary from 16 to 36 months.
